4th Quarter classes (Starting 10/05/14)

Ankur Bangla school will be conducted in four quarters.  Each quarter consisting of 3 months of operation.  The current quarter is starting in October and will continue till December. The agenda for the classes this quarter is as follows:
  1. Starter class: Computer fundamentals for kids  (Biplab Chattopadhyay)
  2. Language class: Sukumar Roy's stories and poems (Susmita Datta)
  3. Culture and History class: 19th Century Indian Intellectuals (Shyamal Chattaraj)
  4. Workshop
    1. Still open.
    2. Still open.

Timings

The school will be conducted on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month.  The class hours are provided below.  Please note that the school will strictly follow the timings mentioned here.  Parents are kindly requested to get their kids on time for the classes.

  1. Starter class: 11 am - 11:30 am
  2. Language class: 11:30 am - 12:15 pm
  3. Lunch break: 12:15 pm  - 12:45 pm
  4. Culture and History class: 12:45 pm - 1:30 pm
  5. Workshop: 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Bangla School charter

The Bangla School will work on quarterly basis, with each Quarter spanning over 3 months.  Every month two Bangla School sessions will be conducted.  One on the 1st Sunday of the month and other on the 3rd Sunday of the month.  The last session of each Quarter will be for exams.  So a typical Quarter will consist of 5 class sessions and 1 exam session.

A class session will consist of the following classes:

  1. Starter Class: This class will have various topics as they can be arranged by the school committee.  E.g. Chess, spelling bee.  The topic will be decided in the beginning of each Quarter.
  2. Language class: In this class students will learn how to comprehend and converse in Bengali in a fun filled way through listening and discussing stories, rhymes, fairy tales of Bengal and India.  The topic will be decided in the beginning of each Quarter.
  3. Culture and History class: In this class students will learn about the culture and history of Bengal and India.  That will include great Indian events, lives of great Indians. Learning will be strictly through listening comprehensions and conversations.  The topic will be decided in the beginning of each Quarter.
  4. Workshops: For overall development of the kids in various areas of arts and hobbies, Bangla School will conduct workshops on miscellaneous important areas of development. 
On the exam session there will be an exam for each class.  Workshops may or may not require exams as that will be decided by respective teachers.  The exams will be mildly competitive and primarily encouraging in nature.  There will be some award for every student who appear in the exams.
